Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 is a day that I won’t soon forget.
It was one of those bizarre, twilight-zone, out-of-body-experience days, wherein I knew that something amazing was happening – but it was almost as though that amazing thing was happening in some other dimension.
In real life, I was performing a series of my usual tasks: preparing food, changing diapers, breaking up baby-fights, playing “crawling”, pretending to be Minnie Mouse, etc.
Meanwhile, in that alternate Universe we all exist in – The Internet – we’d just launched a Kickstarter campaign in hopes of funding the compilation of our very first BOOK and the numbers started to rise within the hour.
It was an emotional roller coaster. Anytime I could steal away for long enough to refresh my browser, we’d be hit with another outpouring of support – Words of encouragement, votes of confidence in the form of dollars pledged toward our goal. It was terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time (and as I write this… it still is!).
By the time 6:30pm rolled around, I was getting ready to go meet Aleks – my partner in rebellion – and a few of our fellow Rebel Mama team members for a serendipitous celebration with some help from our friends at Chandon.
It was one of those evenings that came together quickly.
We’d gotten a call from our friends at Charton Hobbs the preceding week: The amazing head wine maker from Chandon, Pauline Lhote, would be in town for one night and wanted to treat an awesome crew of women to an incredible culinary experience. We were asked to host. We happily obliged. We called up a few of our brilliant and beautiful contributors and told them we wanted them to be spoiled with flowers, sparkling wine and delicious food for a night to celebrate women supporting women and they said HELL YES REBEL MAMAS, WE WILL BE THERE.
And so we ate. And we drank. And we laughed, and we cried and we reminisced and it was the celebration we didn’t realize that we deserved. But it was magic.
Women are magic.
Community is magic.
Thank you to everyone who gave us something to celebrate on Tuesday. We are floored by your level of support and enthusiasm about THE REBEL MAMA’S HANDBOOK FOR PARENTS. We’re so ready to see this through – for all of us.
